IOC to set up country’s first maleic anhydride factory in Panipat

State-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on Monday said it will set up the country’s first large-sized maleic anhydride factory at its Panipat refinery and petroleum complex in Haryana with an investment of Rs 3,681 crore to manufacture enhanced chemical products.

The project will be implemented in 54 months from Phase-I investment wages, the company said in a statement. The project will have a capacity of 1,20,000 tonnes per annum of maleic anhydride. It is used in the manufacture of specialty products such as polyester resins, agricultural chemicals.

Indonesia first country to approve Novavax vaccine for Kovid-19

Biotechnology company Novavax said on Monday that Indonesia has become the first country in the world to approve emergency use of its anti-Covid-19 vaccine. Novavax has adopted a different technology in its vaccine from the vaccines currently in use.

Its vaccine will not require extremely low temperatures, which will boost its supply to poor countries of the world. This vaccine is in two doses. It is made from laboratory-produced copies of the spike protein, the envelope of the coronavirus.

‘Mumbai-Karnataka’ region renamed

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday announced that the ‘Mumbai-Karnataka’ region will now be renamed as “Kittur Karnataka region”. He said that when border disputes are arising, there is no point in carrying on the old name, hence it has been decided to rename the area.

The Chief Minister said that we had recently changed the name of Hyderabad-Karnataka region to “Kalyan Karnataka”. Now in the coming few days we are going to change the name of Mumbai Karnataka region.
